Maribyrnong, let's Sort Your Threads!

Maribyrnong, let's Sort Your Threads!

Did you know that in Australia more than 200,000 tonnes of textiles are sent to landfill each year? That’s the equivalent weight of almost four West Gate Bridges, just from clothing and other materials!

Green Collect and the City of Maribyrnong are partnering up to minimise textile waste in the West with the launch of “Sort Your Threads”, an initiative to help the Westside community sort their clothing sustainably into donations and recycling.

Donate or recycle today! We're accepting donations of wearable clothing that is still quality, cared for and in quality condition. Have textiles that have seen better days? Discarded, unsoiled, scrap linens, towels and unwearable threads can also have a second chance too when you drop them off for recycling.

Operating until Friday 16 October
📍 Visit Footscray Library (56 Paisley Street, Footscray)

Please note due to community health and safety: items for recycling must be in an
unsoiled condition, meaning no paint, glue or chemicals, not at risk of infestation and no
stains from bodily fluids.
