Gathering for good, creating our neighbourhood.
Be part of a festival of ideas and action for a greener inner west. A growing movement of local community groups have gathered together to explore and inspire greener ways of living, working and travelling in Melbourne’s west.
On Saturday October 26, 2024, we’re coming together for the very first Green West Fest—a celebration of sustainability and creativity, powered by Green Collect and a bunch of grassroots organisations active in our community. This gathering aims to deepen connections in our local community so that we can take practical steps toward a greener, more sustainable future.
Out of love for our planet and neighbourhoods, we’re hoping to amplify the sort of changes we can all make to lead us towards better use of resources and energy, and effective climate action.
WHEN: Saturday October 26th 10am - 4pm
WHERE: Unit 12/75A Ashley St, Braybrook VIC 3019.
FESTIVAL PROGRAM

Contribute to Lady Mohawk’s community art project, A Tree Grows in The West. We are inviting kids (and even those young at heart) to be part of this amazing installation, that will serve as a reminder of what the community means to its members. PLUS take part in additional crafting workshops using salvaged materials, saving valuable items from going to landfill.
Speak your mind with other passionate people about where you live, how you travel around and what changes you’d like to see. This collaboration between Regen Melbourne, Bike West and Community Bike Hub is a showcase of the power of community. Ride on down to the Green West Fest following our safe travel maps or jump on the bus that will land you right out front.
Learn about the life cycle of your clothes and how to keep textiles in circulation. Search through our circular store for a gorgeous secondhand find OR bring your wardrobe to a community clothes swap hosted by Trishlaa. Whether you're serious about style or call ‘jeans and tee’ your uniform, there is something here for you, including expert advice on mending clothes and so much more.
Come and get your hands dirty at the Green West Fest! Enjoy a wide variety of gardening and permaculture activities or stand by and soak up the greenery. Bring along your seeds and seedlings to swap or even learn about what amazing organisations are doing in your neighbourhood. Beginners and gardening experts welcome!
Taste the world in Braybrook! We are so excited to share in the rich cultures and cuisines from all over the globe, right here in the Western Suburbs. With cooking demos and recipe swaps, you might even walk away knowing how to make something from scratch. Don’t forget to stop by the Bike N Blend booth to ride yourself to a healthy smoothie too!
Do you have a bunch of stuff you’re not quite sure how to dispose of? Green Collect gather a range of excess household and office items from stationery, to X-rays, to so much more. With a range of collection zones on the day, you’ll have a chance to learn more about alternative and sustainable options for moving your no-longer-needed items responsibly.
